Description
Application
Cationic and amphoteric mill-cooked starches
Strength, retention and drainage development in virgin and low recycle content furnish papermaking systems
Net cationic enhanced molecular weight mill-cooked starches
Paper/board machine systems utilizing microparticle retention systems for enhanced retention/drainage performance and strength development
High cationically charged mill-cooked starches
Strength, retention and drainage development in high recycle content furnish and high cationic charge demand papermaking systems
Moderately-charged cationic, ready-for-use polymeric blends
Designed for paper/board mills without a dry starch handling/cooking system, but current grade structure or new grade development require increased internal strength development and improved retention/drainage performance. Especially useful in high recycle content furnishes
High-charged cationic, ready-for-use natural polymers
Designed for paper/board mills without a dry starch handling/cooking system, but current grade structure or new grade development require increased internal strength development and improved retention/drainage performance. Especially useful in high anionic trash containing machine systems for charge neutralization and wet-end additive efficiency
Dry-end product (ingredient) family
Description
Application
Cationic, viscosity modified mill-cooked starches
For use in mills requiring a low level of BOD in the effluent due to environmental permit considerations. For use in the production of paper grades requiring excellent surface strength with enhanced printability
Oxidized, viscosity modified mill-cooked starches
Cost competitive mill locations producing commodity grades that need a moderate level of surface strength and printability
Superior film forming, thixotropic, viscosity modified mill-cooked starches
Provides superior barrier performance compared to traditional surface starch products for use in paper grades requiring a level of oil and grease resistance; helping to eliminate or reduce fluorochemicals grades requiring a high level of porosity development
Acetylated viscosity modified mill-cooked starches
Suitable where high surface strength is important for use in printing and writing grades or strength development in board grades, where product stability and consistent viscosity control are required
Hydroxyethylated, viscosity modified mill-cooked starches
Suitable where high surface strength is important for use in printing and writing grades or strength development in board grades, where starch stability and consistent viscosity control are required. Appropriate for use in all size press and/ or waterbox applications
Acid-thinned waxy maize mill-cooked starches
Superior runnability in grades requiring high surface strength with enhanced printability especially in mill locations having hard water
Ready-for-use natural polymers
Easy for use specialty starch product which provides barrier properties with enhanced surface strength and printability
Coating product (ingredient) family
Description
Application
Superior film forming, thixotropic, viscosity modified mill-cooked starches
Product provides thixotropic response in coating rheology, which improves runnability and performance over traditional starches in demanding coating applications. Highly effective anti-blocking agent for use in coated board formulations. Barrier starch technology useful for developing oil and grease resistance performance
Ready-for-use liquid coating binder
Liquid coating starch suitable for use in coating formulations where the solids content of the formula limits the use of traditional starches. Provides excellent water-holding of the formulation and helps reduce binder migration. Suitable for latex replacement in paper or board applications
Ready-for-use dry powder coating binder
Dry "stir-in" coating binder mixes into pigment slurry without cooking. Suitable for use in coating formulations where higher solids content of the formula improves coating efficiency and drying. Superior water-holding also improves formulation performance, reducing binder migration even further with higher coating solids. Suitable for latex replacement in paper or board applications
Hydroxyethylated, viscosity modified mill-cooked starches
Traditional coating starch, used as a co-binder with latex
