PENFORD ® GUM 2 3 0 modified starch is a high viscosity, hydroxyethyl corn starch, suitable for use in surface treatment of paper or paperboard grades where high surface strength and low application solids are desir e d . PENFORD GUM 230 modified starch is non -ionic in charge character and is compatible with most additives used in surface treatment applications. Because of its low fluidity, surface applications will tend to remain on or near the surface with minimal penetration into the sheet ; promoting a high level of surface strength and curl control.
