PENFORD ® GUM 2 6 0 modified starch is a medium viscosity, hydroxyethyl corn starch, suitable for use in surface treatment of paper or paperboard grades where high surface strength and moderate application solids are desired . PENFORD GUM 2 60 modified starch is non -ionic in charge character and is compatible with most additives used in surface treatment applications. Because of its mid -range fluidity, surface applications will tend to remain near the paper or board surface with some penetration, which can be important for both internal strength and surface strength .
